  • Rising Action
  • In a small home of Laburnum Villa the blinds were pulled closed and a fire shone bright in the room. A father and a son were playing chess. Mr. White hearing the wind, said. "Listen, to the wind." "Check mate."The son responded. The father was very angry. "You'll win the next one," Mrs. White said.
  • Climax
  • "What story were you about to tell me the other day about a paw, monkey's paw or something, sergent-major?" "It's nothing, just a dried up paw." "What is so special about a dried up paw?" Mr. White asked. "An old fakir supposedly put a spell on it so it could grant three separate men, three wishes.
  • Falling Actions
  • "Then wish for two hundred pounds, that will finish the house payment." Herbert said. "I wish for two hundred pounds."Mr. White said. "It moved," Mr. White yelled out. "When I wished, it moved."
  • Resolution
  • "I come from Maw and Meggins." Said the visitor "Has something happened to herbert? Is he hurt?" Mrs. White asked. "He is badly hurt, but not in pain. I was to say that Maw and Meggins refuse responsibility but they wish to give you two hundred pounds in return for your loss. "
  • Mrs. White cried and laughed. "I only just thought of it." She said in a crazy way. "Think of what." Mr white asked. "Go get the paw and whis for our son's life back." She said. "Your mad!" "Go get it! Now. Wish!" "It is foolish and wicked." He said. "WISH!" He raised his hand. "I wish my son alive again." Mrs. White went over to the window and opened the blinds. The candle-end with a flicker larger than the rest, it went dark.
  • There was another knock. Mrs. White was running towards the door. Mr. White followed. "The lock." She said. "Get it!" But Mr. White was on his knees trying to find the paw. He heard the sound of the bolt unlocking, right at that moment he found the paw and made his last and final wish. The knocking stopped and the door was opened. Mrs. White cried out in pain.
