With the help of the old woman, the knight enters the court and proclaims his answer to the queen's question. The women agree.
The old woman asks for the knight publicly to marry her. He is shocked and tries to get her to renounce, but to no avail.
The old woman asks why he is sad, and he replies that he will never be happy because she is old, poor, and ugly.
She gives him two choices: either she can be ugly and loyal, or she can be pretty but unfaithful.
He lets her make her own choice, so she becomes both young and beautiful while also being loyal. They live happily ever after.
