  • The American Civil War (April 12,1861 to April 9, 1865 ) The Union (North) fought the Confederate ( South) to keep them together, while the Confederate fought for its own Independence from the Union. The following are the five main causes of the war.
  • John Brown's Raid On Harpers Fery
  • The Dret Scott Decision of 1857 stateed that Slavery could not be an American citizen and the Missouri Compromise of 1820 was unconstitutional which means that anywhere in the United States was opened to slavery.
  • The Missouri Compromise of 1820
  • The secret network of routes and houses that helped escaped slaves from the South to freedom in the North in the 19th century. The most famous underground railroad conductor is Harriet Tubman.
  • Setionalism
  • October 16-18,1859, John and his group seized federal amory and arsenal in hope to cause slave uprising. Yet, this group was subppressed by General Lee. The captured John Brown hanged because of treason.
  • The Moissouri Compromise of 1820 stated that Maine would be free state and Missouri is slave state. The congress also agree that there won't be slave state above the 36 degree 30' parallel.
  • 36 degree 30' parallel
  • Kansas Nebraska Act was passed in May 30,1854 by U.S. congress. This act allowed Kansas and Nebraska to decide whether they want to be slave or free state and repealed the Missouri Compromise of 1820 which prohibited slavery north of 36 degree 30' parallel.
