Storyboard Text

  • Once upon a time, there lived a little girl named Annie. Annie loved school. She paid attention in class, did her homework and studied hard. Annie got good grades in school. After graduating from high school with high honors, Annie headed off to Boston College to continue her pattern of working hard in school and doing well.
  • Study time + Hard work = good grades
  • College is harder than I thought it would be.
  • College felt different for Annie than high school. The classes were more challenging, she had less structure and more distractions. She also didn't have the same support since her family and friends were so far away.
  • 7:00 Wake up 8:00 Class. Lit 10:30 Bio 12:00 Lunch 2:00 Calculus
  • Annie was managing all her classes well until midterm exams came around. That's when the trouble started. DUN ! DUN ! DUN !
  • To: Annie From: Mom Just an email to see how your day is going. How was your Bio test?
  • The class that was causing Annie so much trouble was INTRO TO SPANISH. Annie was going to class everyday, studying hard every night, doing all of her assignments and she was STILL not getting it. She was confusing hola for adios, amigos and enimigos. And she got a D- on her midterm exam!!!!!!!!!!!! Never before had learning been so hard and discouraging for Annie.
  • Withdraw from the class before it ruins your GPA.
  • You just need to study more.
  • Annie was so confused on how to make things better.
  • Annie got all sorts of advice on how to do better in class.....
  • Ask your sister to for help. Spanish was easy for her.
  • We'll pay for you to get a Spanish tutor.
  • There is not a fairy tale ending to this story.... Annie did not do well in Intro to Spanish (she got a C-), She did not take Spanish or any other foreign language again, and she STILLS feels like a failure when she thinks about it 20 years later!
