Jonas and his family lived happily in their community, with his friends, he was a carefree teenager that looked pretty normal in his community. He was waiting for the ceremony of Twelve.
But he was chosen as the receiver of memory, he trained with the giver, and he realised that everyone in his community knew nothing about the world, while he started to see the colours, and received some new memory, and started to doubt that his parents love him.
He started to train and receiving with the giver, and he felt more about the world, like Love, feelings and he started to have more memories about different things, like war and death. When he saw his friends was playing the game of war, he tried to tell them don't play but he knew that they know nothing. He have love for Fiona and Asher, but he knew they couldn't love him back.
One day when he was training with The Giver, he remembered that his father is going to release a newborn today. He told the giver about the and he just sighed, and told Jonas to watch the process. Then when Jonas realised that "release" means to kill, he realised that his father is a killer, and he begins to question his community, which he wants everyone to have feelings.
He and the giver planned of bringing memory to everyone in his community and decline the rule of sameness and things that they need to know about, like love and war. So when he heard that his father is going to release Gabrielle, he escaped at night and brought Gabrielle with him, into unknown.
He left the community and brought Gabrielle with him, bringing themselves to a new world, with more surprises and unknown, while the world they left was boring, sameness and predictability. It was a brand new world for him, with trees and colours, many thing he did not know. It was an ending, but a new start for him.
