Storyboard Text

  • "See to it, you! Upon my oath I swear, as Zeus is my god above: either you find the perpetrator of the burial and bring him into my sight or death!"
  • (Sophocles 134)
  • So the sentry set up a plan to catch the person who buried Polynices.
  • I will exhume the corpse and wait until the perpetrator returns to bury him again.
  • What are you doing?! This is against the law! We must turn you in to Creon!
  • Leave us sentry, you are free from blame.
  • "I knew it naturally. It was plain enough."
  • "And yet you dared to contravene it?"
  • "Did you know the order forbidding such an act?"
  • (Sophocles 138)
  • "Yes. That order did not come from God. Justice, that dwells with the gods below, knows no such law. I did not think your edicts strong enough to overrule the unwritten laws of god and heaven, you being only a man. "
  • (Sophocles 138)
