Code Name Verity Wein, Elizabeth E. Zachary Thompson 4th hour
Destiny Queenie was molded into being a hero less by how she was brought up and more by her friendship with Maddie. She continously writes in roundabout ways or about nothing of import in her writings to Von Lindenburg. She does this for her friend. She is fighting her destiny by calling herself a coward and traitor."But she is employing the literary conceits and techniques of a novel. And the meeting you speak of has already occurred- you have been reading it for the past quarter of an hour." pg 57
Quest/Journey Queenie has had to deal with torture day in and out if she refuses to write. She is suppose to, in her own mind, learn courage. I believe that she will realize that she is already being courageous enough as she is.
Characteristics/ Character Traits. Physically Queen is a medium height blond haired irishwoman. Mentally she not fine. she has convinced herself that she is a coward and will not see it any other way. Emotionally she is almost always scared, and for good reason. She is scared of losing her family and friends to the war. "Cyanide?" I asked tearfully. It would be such a humane way to go." pg 101
Temptations/ Loneliness/ Heroic Flaws The Journey is harder than it should be because she is being tortured and is giving information out. She sees this as cowardly and will not believe that she is not. Queenie faces the temptation of giving into her cowardice and giving out information on a daily basis. She doesn't have any friends with her and the other prisoners in the hotel hate her. "I know your other prisoners despise me. Thibaut took me to... I don't know what you call it when yu make me watch, is it instruction?" pg 24
