Odysseus and his crew raid the Cicones, robbing and killing people, until the Ciconian army kills 72 of Odysseus' men and drives the rest out to sea. I do not think this was a good idea because odyseeus could've avoided losing 72 important by just not declaring war
War in Cicones
This is an example of irony because being the hero he is, you would never expect Odysseus to back down but in this part of the story he is driven out to sea. This creates a sense of question if Odysseus won that battle or not.
Across the bay from the land of the Cyclopes is a lush, deserted island. Odysseus and his crew land on the island in a dense fog and spend several days feasting on wine and wild goats and observing the mainland, where the Cyclopes live. I think landing here was a good idea because if they went to the cyclops land they risked the chance of being eaten
Land of the Lotus Eaters
On the third day, Odysseus and his company of men set out to learn if the Cyclopes are friends or foes. In my opinion, it was a smart idea to go on the third day so they could ready themselves and get a good plan
