Falling Action: The third night, Rainsford kills the general's partner and narrowly escapes the his bloodhounds by jumping off a cliff in the island. The general stops his pursuit.
Resolution: Rainsford makes his way back to the castle, where he surprises the general in his bedroom before he goes to sleep. The general is fed to the bloodhounds and Rainsford sleeps in the castle, with the whole thing to himself.
