Absolute Government in England
In the 1600's, many monarchies ruled Europe. One of the most well-known monarchies was the House of Tudor. In 1558, Queen Elizabeth took the throne of England and ruled as an absolute monarchy.
Queen Elizabeth I
Queen Elizabeth I ruled from 1558 to 1603. She ruled nearly half a century. Elizabeth I was half sister with Queen Mary l(Bloody Mary). Elizabeth l's reign was known as the Golden Age. The Golden Age was a time that saw the birth of Shakespeare , the defeat of the Spanish Armada, and the emergence of England as a world power. Elizabeth l was the monarch and queen of the House of Tudors.
King James l
King James l ruled England during 1603 to 1625. He was the first king that reigned in England of the House of Stuarts. When he became king he was already King James VI of Scotland. James I autorized a new translation of the Bible which became known as the King James Bible.
King Charles I
King Charles I ruled England from 1625 to 1649.
