"The Rock Pile" James.Baldwin 24 years old he won a fellowship that enabled him to travel to Europe and writes. Xavier Ridgell 6th period 5-3-18
Roy is the baby of the family since he is he gets more attention than the other children in their eye's it is not fair and because of that when Roy does something bad the other kids are blamed for what he did. And John the other main character of the story he is blamed for Roy's accident earlier for no reason, but its also his reason for not telling his dad, and mom this happened at the rockpile, but he later stands up to his dad and takes his lunchbox as a sign of freedom or courage
Story takes place when the boys were looking across the street and their auntie was telling them if the rockpile was not their then the subway cars would fly apart and kill everyone. One event is Roy, and John wants to go down the street and play with the other kids at the rockpile. Second the conflict on the rockpile with Roy and the other kids.
My main conflict is when Roy gets hit on the head with a can and starts bleeding, John knows about itbut still does not tell his mother, nor father. When Roy comes to the house crying they ask his what is wrong they see all the blood and asked where was John he said in there his father went in and said why did you not tell me this yelling at John but John does not get hurt about it just looks his father threatens him if you do not tell me you will get wiped.
Basically, the mom tells the father that he does not have big eyes like you defending John because he knows the father babies Roy all the time letting Roy get his way every time he does something the mom tells the father you will not whop John today.
The theme of the story is that the more you baby a child the more that child will do stuff and get everyone else in trouble for no reason every child should have equal attention. My opinion is that this is how some family are in the world know and they wonder why they are getting stopped by policies or doing bad things trying to seek more attention, or thinking they are unstoppable
