I would say the DAR for this scene is to shock and sadden the audience. They are also seeing a side to Creon which they have no seen of him so it could be also intruiging.

In this scene the senators are convincing Creon to release Antigone. As he goes the messemger returns and tells them Heamon and Antigone are dead as the Queen listens over. She kills herself followed by Creon.
''I am nothing. Take me then. The man who killed, without knowing it, his wife and son. Where shall I go then? Left or right?''
