  • The West African traders set out to cross the vast Sahara desert. They knew that is was a long trip and that the climate was very brutal on the way to Wangara, but it would be worth it.
  • Must.. Have... Water...
  • Why is the Sahara desert so long?
  • The West Africans reached Tangaza and ordered their slaves to mine as much salt as possible. They knew they needed as many natural resources as they could get.
  • Work faster!
  • The West Africans continued in the trade route until they reached Ghana were they were forced to pay taxes. They met the wealthy and greedy king who threatened to execute them if they didn't pay their taxes. Ghana spent their tax money on their army which became strong
  • I need more gold!
  • Taxes
  • The taxes here are so expensive!
  • The traders arrived in Wangara and put down all of their salt. They banged the drum hoping that the Wangarians would trade with them.
  • I hope this will be enough
  • SHHHHHHH!
  • The Wangarians put down the amount of gold they thought was fair and headed back into the woods.
  • The traders finished their silent barter with the Wangarians and headed back along the Trans-Saharan trade route with all their gold to get home.
