The Native Americans helped France in this war. It is also known as the Seven Year War. Even though it had lasted nine years, the first official fight of the war happened in 1756, seven years before it ended. The French surrendered in 1763. Dates: 1754-1763
Beginning in 1763 many harsh laws came from Britain. Some that stood out were the Proclamation of 1763, Intolerable Acts, and the Writs of Assistance. The first act made it illegal to settle west of the Allegheny Mountains, which many lost their homes. The second act was a set of harsh laws that closed the Boston Port. The Writs of Assistance was where you had to let British troops stay in your home if the barracks were full.
Reactions to these laws were terrible and funny. The first was tar and feathering, they would take boiling tar and feathers and cover you in them. "Common Sense" was a pamphlet in simple English language by Thomas Paine that openly spoke out against the King. Last but not least was, the "Boston Tea Party", the colonists threw 90,000 pounds (money) over board.
The "Declaration of Independence" was an official document stating independence from Britain.
The American Revolution started in 1775. The British were the "Redcoats". And the colonists had the "Continental Army" and "the militia".
In the end Britain surrendered to the colonists and they got independence.
