This picture represents the March on Washington in August of 1963, where 200,000 demonstrators of the civil rights movement, led by Martin Luther King Jr., gathered to march peacefully and demonstrate their views on social equality.
This picture respresents the brutality of the Vietnam War because a lot of the time, US troops had a hard time distinguishing between soldiers and civilians, and as a result there were many casualties ; it also represents that most Americans were not happy about being involved in Vietnam at this time.
The picture represents the space race of the 1960's between the United States and the Soviet Union, and the fact that, though the Soviet Union won many of the races, the United States was the first to land on the moon in 1969.
