Martin luther was born in Eisleben Germany in 1483
July 1505 luther go caught in a giant storm, lighting nearly struck him. Martin thought it was a sign from God, he vowed to become a monk and dedicated his life to the church. Martin lived as a member of a religious community of men, living under vows such as poverty, chastity and obedience.
1517 31st October martin nailed the 95 theses ( grivances) to the church door in wittenburg. As he heard people were selling indulgences and was trying to tell people you cant bye your way into heaven. The pope was so angry he called a meeting with martin called the diet of worms, diet- assembly worms-a place in Germany.
Martin luther had a vision and his vision was that he wanted everyone to be able to read the bible, not just priests and the pope , but everyone. he believed that humans may reach starvation by faith alone, that people could not bye off there sins. He also believed that priests should live in the same way as ordinary men and women do .
As martin got sent to the diet of worms. He still stood for his beliefs no matter what. The pope was so angry with him that he excommunicated martin form the church cutting him him off, this is what sparked the protestant reformation.
For many years and this day on we now can all read the bible freely because of one man standing up for his beliefs and this man was martin luther.
