This storyboard does not have a description.
It was a usual day. At various times throughout the day molecules would move across my membrane in a process called diffusion. The small molecules, like my friend the water molecule freely pass through the phospholipid bilayer of my memebrane. I was very familiar with the small molecules.
I'm difusing into the membrane!
But wait a minute... who are these molecules trying to enter? I don't know who these molecules are so I'll send them to the carbohydrate chains to see if they are safe to come in.
The carbohydrate chains help protect me (the cell) against foreign molecules.
