Urban Northeast during the Industrial Revolution
During the industrial revolution, business was booming and more factories that relied on machinery were built. More jobs became available, especially for handling the machinery and the demand for cotton and other raw materials was increasing.
Woah i can't believe we got jobs here!
Another thing that happened during the industrial revolution was that many reform groups were made, the most known being abolition. These reforms sought out to solve or fight against social problems that they believed should change, such as slavery, woman's suffrage, drinking, and many more.
Join us in the abolition movement and lets end slavery once and for all!
The South during the Industrial Revolution
Because of the sudden demand for cotton and other raw materials, more had to be grown and produced, which influenced slave labor. The South's economy soon became agricultural while the North's economy became based on manufacturing.
Ughh I never wanted to be a slave, I wish I could leave!!
The support to end slavery slowly increased; more and more people started to support the abolition reform. The underground railroad was a secret network that would help slaves escape slavery and would take them all the way to the North. This had a major impact on slavery and was one of the milestones to ending it.
