Trevor Zupancic French revolution storyboard
Because each estate only had 1 vote, the third asked that there delegates each be given a vote. When denied they revolted and began to write there own constitution
And of course the Third Estate who were the poor people and middle class.
The First Estate was made of the clergy, who were basically the church and could make laws based on religion or what ever they wanted.
The second Estate was made of nobles who owned most of the farms
The terror happened when the revolution started. Political parties clashed, and anyone who even slightly objected what was happening was deemed a enemy of the revolution. The guillotine, or The national razor, saw more heads roll than anyone could've imagined.
During this time, people feared that the king would bring reinforcements to stop the revolution. Because of there fear they stormed France's largest weapon cache. . . and took it along with all the weapons inside. It was known as the Bastille.
When the Third Estate revolted they made a Declaration of The Rights of Man. When they found themselves locked out of their meeting room they broke into an indoor tennis court and vowed that they would meet there every day until they had a new constitution. They called this the Tennis Court Oath. The Declaration of the Rights of Man said what rights the men of France had. It was almost like the Bill of Rights mixed with the declaration of independence
Afterwards the third estate became fed up with the king and royalty, and arrested them after terrorizing the palace. The women were fed up with the price of bread and how the queen kept spending money they didn't have. A limited monarchy was proposed but revolutionary idealists were reluctant to the idea. After the republic was formed the king and queen were tried with treason and were both beheaded
Radicals wanted a New Republic, one that wouldn't fail, and one without a king. During this time Robespirre took over and assumed control as a dictator and used terror to instill virtue. Anyone who opposed the revolutionary idealist ideas was executed. Eventually the Committee on Public Safety was created and executed Robespierre. The committee on public safety dedicated themselves to keeping peace and order in France to end the terror, something Robespierre made impossible.
At last the revolution ended after the king, queen, and children were killed and the republic was formed. The new republic was formed and the directory was created. It consisted of 5 men. They were, as all men who come to power are, corrupt and they robbed the republic for their benefit. Of course the people didn't care. All they wanted was peace. But 5 men was a premonition of 5 years. And in 5 years a small man would make a big boom.
