Indeed, the new religion broadened our historical horizon. But the actual recording started strongly due to practical reasons related to state-building, didn't it?
-The need to collect the Prophet's biography (Seerah) to serve as a law/model.-The expansion of the Islamic lands (Conquests), which necessitated recording their news.-The need to know the conditions of past nations mentioned in the holy books.-The need to regulate administrative and financial affairs after the conquests, such as distinguishing conquered lands and establishing a fixed calendar.

That's correct. Then came the stage of journeys (Rihlat), where students of knowledge traveled to document events and narrations. With the emergence of smaller dynasties, recording became local, leading to city histories (like the History of Baghdad).
This explains why the first thing written was the Prophetic Biography by Madinah scholars like Urwah ibn al-Zubayr, followed by the recording of conquest narratives.
