In The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street by Rod Serling, one of the main theme is don’t assume or jump to conclusions. For example, page 80 ,at the bottom charlie says: Any guy who'd spend his time lookin' up at the sky early in the morning- well there's something wrong with that kind of a person. This shows that you can’t just assume there’s something wrong with a person just because they have a weird habit, they might have a good reason for it therefore, it’s not right to jump to conclusions Without evidence. Another example is on page 81, Charlie says “You sound really anxious to have that happen Steve. I think we better keep an eye on you too” This evidence shows that the group is having a fight after Steve tells Charlie to shut his mouth and Char assumes that Steve is the culprit. Just told have told him to be quiet. On page 83 the lights go off on Charlie’s porch and then Don says “What about it Charlie? How come you’re the only one with the lights now?” Everyone starts accusing troll of being the monster then everyone turns on each other and starts fighting. As the element shows people shouldn’t jump to conclusions or assume things Because then it could turn out badly and sometimes lead violence.
