Текст на Статията

  • Now, before the sun comes up and burns away the dew, I have to fill this basket of mine with poisonous weeds and medicinal flowers.
  • There are two opposite elements in everything, in men as well as in herbs--good and evil.
  • Your last guess is right. I enjoyed a sweeter rest than sleep.
  • May God forgive you've sinned!--Were you with Rosaline?
  • Friar Lawrence wants to collect poisonous weeds and medicinal flowers before the sun rises and destroys many of the plants nutrients. He also discusses his beliefs about Earth and how it is both a mother and a tomb for nature. He explains how the earth can provide excellent sources of nourishment.
  • I love rich Capulet's daughter. I love her, and she loves me. We're bound to each other in every possible way, except we need you to marry us.
  • Holy Saint Francis, this is a drastic change! Have you given up so quickly on Rosaline, whom you loved so much?
  • Romeo describes how a weak plant can be both a poison and a powerful medicine depending on how it is used. He then compares it to men, comparing them to herbs; good vs evil.
  • You scolded me often for loving Rosaline.
  • I scolded you for obsessing about her, not for loving her, my student.
  • Friar Lawrence is surprised to see Romeo up so early in the morning. Lawrence begins to piece together a conclusion to determine why Romeo woke up so early. He eventually realizes that he never went to bed that day and believes Romeo was out with Rosaline instead.
  • Let's get out of here. I'm in a rush.
  • But come on, inconsistent young man, come with me, I'll help you with your secret wedding.
  • Romeo tells Friar Lawrence that he loves Juliet, Capulet's daughter. He then requests Friar Lawrence's assistance in marrying them. Lawrence was baffled by the fact that Romeo had dismissed Rosaline for someone else; Juliet.
  • Romeo believed Lawrence chastised him for his feelings for Rosaline. Friar explains that he didn't really love Rosaline, but only for her appearance, which is why he became obsessed with her. He then tells Romeo that he cannot simply end a relationship and replace her.
  • After Friar Lawrence explains to Romeo that what he did to Rosaline was wrong, he eventually agrees to assist in the secret marriage of Romeo and Juliet. Romeo rushes Lawrence at the end, but Lawrence claims that those who rush stumble and fall.
