  • SCENE 1 (BOOK 22)
  • "BEST MAN IN ITHACA"
  • SCENE 2 (BOOK 22)
  • SCENE 3 (BOOK 22)
  • OK, ILL COVER YOU WITH ARROWS WHILE THEY LAST
  • ILL GO GRAB US, EUMACHUS AND THE COWHEARD ARMOR
  • OH NO THE GODS ARE SUPPORTING THEM
  • Odysseus told the men that he would make a shot no other man has ever made, which ended up being hitting Antinous directly under the chin whilst he was drinking his wine. This is explained by saying, "Like pipes his nostrils jetted crimson runnels, a river of mortal red, and one last kick upset his table knocking the bread and meat to soak in dusty blood" (Homer 22. 17-20).
  • SCENE 1 (BOOK 23)
  • After Odysseus killed Antinous, the men ended up getting very mad and start yelling at Odysseus due to the fact that they cannot physically attack him without the aid of weaponry. After this however, Odysseus yells back at them- not very nicely at that- telling them that they shall die. They get scared, as they should be, and beg for mercy where they offer restitution for all they have destroyed, and it's declined. Odysseus then proceeds t o kill most of the men before his son joins the effort.
  • SCENE 2 (BOOK 23)
  • how am I going to know that he's really my husband...
  • When Telemachus, Eumachus and the cow-heard join Odysseus in his fight, Telemachus tell his father that he will go grab armor for them all. During this, Athenas shield appears, showing her aid on Odysseus' side. Once the men see this, they are scared out of their minds and try to escape, but to no avail.
  • SCENE 3 (BOOK 23)
  • how dare you say that my bed can be moved!? I carved that bed with my own hands and it cannot be moved...
  • Odysseus is being bathed by Eurynome and rubbed with golden oil. During this- while his wife isn't there to see him- he's being blessed by Athena for beauty. Making him taller, massive, and changed hair. After he's been bathed, he goes and sits on his chair by the pillar and talks to his wife, Penelope, where they have a conversation.
  • Odysseus and Penelope start their conversation rather cold as they are unsure of each other. After Odysseus and Penelope start their conversation, Penelope tells one of her handmaidens that she needs to move Odysseus' bed to the hall outside her bedroom. This was in order to test Odysseus and see if he really is her husband.
  • Eurycleia, make his bed outside my bedchamber.
  • Odysseus has an outrage at the thought of moving his bed, as it is unmovable. His bed was made from an olive tree when he first got the property. He decided that he was going to make his bed around this olive tree, and ends up carving one of his bed posts from said tree. After this happens, Penelope starts to cry and hugs Odysseus knowing that he really is who he claims to be.
  • Odysseus, my love, you really are him. I was just making sure that it really was you who was sitting in front of me
