- Hello! My name is Barbara Johns and I was a member in the Civil Rights Movement.
- I went to an all-black school called R.R. Moton High School in Farmville, Virginia. We had very poor conditions and not as many facilities as the white schools in the area, which was extremely unfair.
- We lacked the basics- we had no plumbing, meaning we had no bathrooms indoors. We would have reused books, busses, and materials from the white schools that were run down, old, and didn't properly work. We only had a small fire to keep the whole school warm in winter.
- It's SO cold!

- The white schools, however, had new and clean facilities, conditions, and materials.
