FALLING ACTION: Some neighbors hear the scream and call the police, who show up to the old man's apartment. The narrator covers the murder up by saying the old man was out of town, and that it was him screaming.

CONFLICT: The narrator's neighbor is an old man with an eye that bothers him very much since it looks deformed.

CLIMAX:The narrator suffocates the old man with his mattress one night and causes him to wake up screaming. The narrator forces the mattress onto him until his heart stops beating and buries his body parts under the floor.
