Текст на Статията

  • Fossils are traces of organisms that lived in the past and were preserved by natural process in sediments.
  • They can be remains of organisms such as bones, shells, teeth and feces
  • Mhm!
  • Fossils may be classified as impression or imprints and compression. Impression are shallow external molds left by animal or plant tissues with little or no organic.
  • Compression is the other side with more organic material.
  • The next evidence is Comparative Anatomy. It provides evidence of evolution by comparing anatomical structures of different species.
  • Do you know an example of this evidence?
  • Right again!
  • Like the similarity of bone structures in whales and humans?
  • There are two major concepts of comparative anatomy. The Homologous and Analogous.  Structures from different species which have similar internal framework, position and embryonic development are considered to be homologous - just like the example you gave.
  • The presence of homologous structure is also a strong indicator that the organisms evolved from a common ancestors. However, these features or structures completely serve different functions.
  • Analogous structures, on the other hand, are structures of unrelated species that may evolve to look alike because the structure is adapted to similar function.  For example, a bird and a butterfly can both fly, but they do not have similar structures.
  • Both have the same functions but different in origin.
  • Oh! I'm getting it now.
  • Another evidence  is from Embryonic Development.  Any ideas about this?
  • Correct!
  • Oh! Oh! Some homologous structures of different species can be seen only in embryo development.
