- The epxposition starts when the author starts sneakily throwing in hintd about who Eckeel is and what is happening during the story. During the exposition the author talks about how they are going on a time safari where you can go back into any point in time and hunt for an animal. The author talks about how to character is very clearly frightened about what might happen, and is also very anxious. We see this from his use of the words He swallowed and pushed it down. Does this safari guarentee I come back alive?
- Climax
- During Rising Action 1 the author starts to leave breadcrumbs, and foreshadow what might happen during the story. The author does this in the story when the official is explaining the rules and he talks about how important it is to follow them. He puts extreme emphasis on this phrase This is Mr. Travis, your safari guide in the past. He'll tell you what and where to shoot. If he says no shooting, no shooting. If you disobey instructions, there is a strict penalty of ten thousand dollars, plus possible governement action upon your return.
- Fallling Action
- The second rising action happens when the author continues to lead up to the climax. This is the point in the story when he is getting scared to go, and the man behind the desk is trying to make sure he is prepared to go and shoot this dinosaur. This is also the point where they talk about the election, and they get on the time machine and go back into time. This part of the story is where the author is getting you prepared and excited for the climax.
- Resolution
- The climax. This is the point in the story the author has been leading up to since the beggining. Eckel decides to not shoot the dinosaur and by doing so he changes everything. The dinosaur starts to attack them, and Eckel makes a huge mistake and steps off the course and by doing this the author is foreshadowing what might happen when they arrive home. At this point everyone is attacking the dinosaur and this is the point everyone has been waiting for.
- The falling action is the point in the story when they are heading back home and Eckel is just thinking about what happened. There is alot of tension between everyone because of everything that has just happened. Eckel is just unwinding and trying to figure out a plan for what might happen to him when he gets home.
- The resolution is the point in the story when Eckel arrives home and realizes he has made a horribe mistake. He realizes that when he stepped into the mud in the past he killed a butterfly. And by doing so changed the course of the election, making it so the man who would not have made a good president is the new president. And then when Travis walked into the room we heard the sound of thunder and Eckel was shot and killed. This is where the author ties up the story and concludes everybting that has happened.
