- American spy planes discovered that Cubans were secretly building bases for Soviet nuclear missiles. The U.S. got involved because he did not want to start a nuclear war.

- After 911 President Bush feared that Hussein might be hiding "weapons of mass destruction" which can be given to Al-Qaeda terrorist. They forced Hussein to resign from office. The U.S. got involved because they didn't want to start a war.
