  • Act 1: The Witches' Prophecies
  • King hereafter...? Does this mean I have to kill King Duncan...?
  • Macbeth
  • "All hail, Macbeth, that shalt be king hereafter!" ( Shakespeare 1.3.52-54)
  • "All hail, Macbeth! Hail to thee, Thane of Glamis!"
  • "All hail, Macbeth! Hail to thee, Thane of Cawdor!"
  • Act 2: The Murder of Duncan
  • "Will all great Neptune's oceans wash this blood clean from my hand?
  • No, this my hand will rather the multitudinous seas incarnadine, making the green one red." (Shakespeare 2.2.78-81)
  • A little water clears us of this deed. How easy is it, then!
  • Lady Macbeth
  • Act 3: Banquo's Ghost
  • He'll be fine... (I think)
  • "Avaunt, and quit my sight! Let the earth hide thee. Thy bones are marrowless; thy blood is cold; thou hast no speculation in those eyes which thou dost glare with." (Shakespeare 3.4.113-116)
  • Macbeth and Banquo are met in a forest by 3 witches who prophesize Macbeth's rule of Scotland and Banquo's kin ruling Scotland. This causes Macbeth and his wife to plot the murder of King Duncan, the current ruler of Scotland.
  • Act 4: The Third Apparition
  • Banquo
  • That's great! Trees never walk so that means I'm invincible!
  • "Be lion-mettled, proud, and take no care who chafes, who who frets, or where conspirers are. Macbeth shall never vanquished be until Great Birnam Wood to high Dunsinane Hill shall come against him." (Shakespeare 4.1.103-107)
  • After killing King Duncan, Macbeth feels guilty while Lady Macbeth shows no remorse and tell him to shake it off. Malcom and Donalbain (both sons of King Duncan) flee Scotland in fear of losing their lives, which leaves Macbeth as king.
  • Act 5: The Death of Macbeth
  • "Hail, King! Behold where stands th' usurper's cursed head. The time is free I see thee compassed with thy kingdom's pearl, that speak my salvation in their minds, whose voices I desire aloud with mine. Hail, King of Scotland!" (Shakespeare 5.8.65-70)
  • Macbeth is dead!
  • Macbeth becomes jealous of Banquo and sends 3 murderers to kill Banquo and his son, Fleance, but Fleance escapes. After Banquo is murdered, Macbeth has a feast with other nobles but then he thinks he sees the ghost of Banquo there, which makes Macbeth look insane. A lord of Scotland named Lennox talks with another lord in the ending scene of the act, which reveals that Malcolm fled to England to gain support to overthrow Macbeth.
  • What is this man seeing?
  • Banquo's Ghost
  • Macbeth meets the 3 witches again, who show him 4 prophecies: Macbeth should be scared of Macduff, no one that's born can harm Macbeth, Macbeth won't be overthrowing until the forest surrounding him marches, and that Banquo's kin will rule. Macbeth becomes bitter, sending murderers to kill Macduff's family. Lady Macbeth's guilt shows when she thinks that she sees a stain of blood on herself.

  • Soldiers from both Scotland and England meet up and march against Macbeth's castle, using trees to hide their numbers. Lady Macbeth kills herself and Macbeth marches out to fight the army, but is killed by Macduff (who was born from a C-Section). And thus, the reign of terror by Macbeth is stopped and Malcolm is declared king.
