Queen Maya gave birth on a full moon in the month of May. She gave birth standing and holding a a branch that the tree grew out to assist her. Then it rained right after the birth to wash the mother and the newborn son. Immediately after Siddhartha's birth he took seven steps and said This will be my last birth. Queen Maya then passed away one week after her son's birth.
