- Climax In the climax Jonas and fiona are sitting next to each other waiting for their turn to be called onto the stage to receive their assignments. When fiona was called she received the assignment of caretaker of the old. since Jonas was after Fiona he was supposed to be called after her but he was not he was skipped by the chief elder. the chief elder didn't call him up to the stage until he was the last one who wasn't assigned a job.when everyone else was called except him and he was the last one to be called the chief elder apologized and called him to the stage. she told the community that he was not assigned he was selected to be the next recever of memory.
- falling action In the falling action Jonas is given his instructions that he can't tell anyone about his training. he goes and sees the giver everyday until he receives all of the memories from him even the painful ones. The giver and Jonas make a plan for Jonas to escape the community with gabriel because his dad made the decision to release him because he can sleep soundly.
- resolution In the resolution Jonas sneaks out of his dwelling at night as part of his plan and steals his dad's bike because it has the child's seat on the back. Jonas pedals for days and days stopping frequently for food and water and to keep out of sight for search planes. they pedal far enough out of the community that there were no more planes but by that time they were both starving, wet, and cold. In the end Jonas transmits his last memory of warmth to gabe and trudges forwards through the snow and finds a sled. Jonas tucks Gabriel into his tunick and sleds down the hill when he feels himself losing consciousness. then the book ends dun dun dun
