Step 4 of criminal court cases is the arraignment. The suspect goes to court and decides whether the plead guilt or non guilty.They can either plead guilty and possibly get a lesser sentence with a plea bargain, or they can plead innocent and a trial date is set. Mr. Rodney and his attorney decided to plead innocent and their date was set.

STEP 5
Step 5 of criminal court cases is the trial. The prosecution and the defense present their cases/evidence and the jury reaches a verdict. Mr. Rodney and his attorney are the defense and are pleading innocence while Ms. Wright and her attorney are the prosecution and believe that Mr. Rodney is guilty.
Your honor, that man is guilty of theft.
