The husband of Mathilde, Loisel came home with an invitation to a party, but Mathilde refuses to go because she doesn´t have the right clothes.

Loisel tell her that he will buy the clothes and that she can go to her rich friend Madame Forestier to borrow some jewelry.
Climax
The next day, Mathilde goes to Madame Forestier house to borrow some jewelry and Madame Forestier tells her to pick one and she saw a diamond necklace and picked up. Can I borrow this one? she asked, and Madame Forestier answers her Why, of course.
Mathilde was so charming to the party and many people noticed her.
