- Reverend Parris saw the group of young girls in the woods dancing naked. He believes that the girls wereparticipating in witchcraft.
- After Reverend Parris confronts the girls for what they were doing in the woods, his daughter Betty acts like she has fallen into a coma due to witchcraft.
- Abigail confronts all the girls from that night in the woods. She swears them in to never tell what happened in the woods and that if they do she will kill them in their sleep.
- Parris and Hale start to close in on Abigail so she blames Tituba for the witchcraft and that she had nothing to do with it.
- Tituba tells the truth that she has nothing to do with Betty. Abigail knows that she will get in trouble if she doesn't confess. So she starts blaming inoccent people with the other girls for witchcraft.
