- Okay... we finished the schools. Now get to building! We still have courts, baths, and aqueducts to do.
- The Great Schism
- Justinian was the most famous Emperor of the Byzantine Empire. He reconquered claimed lands, and created a set of laws called the Justinian Code. This is important because this code served as the basis of laws in the Empire for the next 900 years.
- During Justinian's rule, he started varies construction projects. He created public baths, hospitals, aqueducts, schools, courts, and the well known church, Hagia Sophia. His wife, Theodora, also encouraged the building and had a lot of power in the Empire. This construction helped advance the civilization and make life easier.
- The Eastern Orthodox and Roman Catholic were created over a disagreement of leadership. Christians in Western Europe believed there should be a Pope while Eastern Europe wanted the Emperor to make final decisions. This disagreement led to the split of Christians that still remains present in modern day.
