On September 15, 1950U.S. Marines force made a surprise water landing at the strategic port of Inchon on the west coast of Korea, about "100 miles south of the 38th parallel and 25 miles from Seoul."
On November 4th, 1950 The Chinese had taken sides with the North Koreans. Them joining pushed back United Nations back across 38 street and was able to capture Southern Capitol of Seoul. "The Chinese were fearful that the United Nations forces would remain in North Korea and pose a threat to China."
