- Basically, the best footwear for beaches, based on physics, is anything that has a large surface area, wide soles, and is lightweight and flexible.
- By that logic, walking barefoot would also be comfortable due to natural pressure distribution and adaptability. Wait so are flip-flops also a good option then?

- YES! Flip-flops are good because of the same reasons that high heels are bad!
- Wider soles spread your body weight over a larger area, reducing the force your body applies to the ground. This decreases the pressure on the sand ensuring you don't sink in, thus making walking easier.
- Wow so much effort just for choosing the right shoes! Why is walking on sand such a hassle?

- Sand is soft,uneven and compressible. This increases the energy expended as your feet sink with each step and needs more effort to stabilize and propel yourself forward.
- The lack of a firm surface means your feet will constantly move, creating an imbalance.
- All of this is so interesting! It's weird how we follow the principles of physics without even knowing that it's all basic physics!
