Storyboard Text
- When Billy came over he doused his food in syrup. I though it was disgusting. When I asked him what he was doing, he got all embarrassed. Calpurnia hushed me and rushed me out of the room. She told me not to shame Billy as he had probably not had a good meal in a long time. She wanted me to wonder what he felt like. It took me a long time, but when I was much older I figured out what she meant.
- Later that night, after Billy was gone, I told Atticus the woes of my day. He said, "You will get through life quicker if you learn a simple trick, you will never truly understand a person until you climb into his skin and walk around in it. He understood I had been embarrassed by Miss Caroline, but she was new, and had had to learn a few things herself today. Now she knew never to ask a Cunningham to borrow something. Atticus had a way with words that could make almost anything feel okay.
- The school year came and went with its ups and its downs. Summer came around again bringing Dill with it. With him we were up to lots of shenanigans. One of them was creating a play based on the stories that we had heard about the Radley's. We would all play different roles and glorify the gossip we had heard about them.
- One day, Atticus came home from work early. When he saw what we were doing he was not pleased. He asked if it had anything to do with the Radleys . Jem told him no, and Atticus said it better not be. Although he did not say it, I knew from what he said about Miss Caroline. Imagine walking in their shoes.
- We would play as the Radley's. I was Ms. Radley, Dill was Mr. Radley, and Jem was Boo.
- Jem, Dill and I continued to be intrigued by the story of Boo Radley. The most daring thing we had done, was sneaking into the back of the Radley lot to try and get a look at Boo. Mr. Radley ended up seeing that someone was in his yard. He did not know it was us, by we just barely escaped. On the way out Jem caught his pants on the fence and had to leave them there to escape in time.
- Later that night, Jem stuck back out to get his pants. When he returned he seemed shaken. His pants had been sewn. We believed that it was Boo! After all, it could not have been Mr. Radley.
