- Proclamation of 1763Parliament passed this proclamation saying that the colonists couldn't settle west of the Appalachian Mountains. They were trying to keep peace with the Natives living there, but this only angered the colonists.
- No settling west of the Appalachian Mountains!
- There they go again, trying to oppress us! well, we won't fall for it!

- Quartering Act of 1765Soldiers patrolled the neighborhood streets to "keep peace" and act as a police force. So, this act was passed so that the colonists would provide basic needs, such as food and clothing, to the soldiers.
- Oh dear! How must I be expected to house so many soldiers? We already don't have enough food and clothing..
- Too bad! It's the law, woman! Now give us something good to eat!

- First Continental Congress of 177455 delegates from each colony (except Georgia) met in Philadelphia to discuss the pressing issues of taxation and punishment without representation. They decided to keep boycotting British products and form a militia, The Minutemen, in case they would have to prepare for war. They also wrote the Olive Branch petition to King George the Third in this meeting.
- Intolerable Acts of 1774As punishment for the Boston Tea Party, Britain closed the Boston Harbor until the Massachusetts colonists paid for the lost tea. They also established many other "intolerable" acts, as the colonists called them, such as the new Quartering Acts that allowed soldiers to live in colonists' houses.
