- Man this is taking longer than expected..
- The setting takes place in an apartment in Lexingtington Avenue New York in the mid 1950's. (Finney 111)
- antagonist description
- The basic situation is when a man named Tom Benecke, is forced to face a choice to choose from, that's between Family and work. Throughout the story, Tom goes through many hardships and nearly looses his social life due to prioritizing work. (Finney 110)
- Internal conflict

- Tom Benecke is a hard-working person but tends to overwork so he can be acknowleged by his boss and be given a promotion. He ends up spending so much time on his project. (Finney 111)
- External conflict
- Tom is also the antagonist in this story. He is shown to prioritze work and not even go to the movies with his wife. Clare is wife, ends up leaving to watch the movie herself. Tom felt guilty about this but still thought of getting his project done. (Finney 111-112)
- I have to finish this project so no.
- Are you coming too the movies or not?
- Tom has an ongoing struggle to remain calm while working on his project. He thought he would be able to finish it quickly but it took him forever. Tom then started to struggle with his feelings and punched the window and crawled out to grab his yellow sheet in which flew out the window. (Finney 114)
- The conflict is man vs nature. Tom couldn't open his apartment window and ended up punching it with his fist. He does this because he couldn't wait for his wife who was out at the movies. Again, Tom realizes he should be with his wife, he ended up going to her. (Finney 125)
- What am I doing! I should be with my wife!
