Exposition
marigolds took place around when the great depression happened. Lizabeth and her brother and some of there friends where very bored and wanted to do something fun .
they decide to go to Ms.Lotties backyard and taunt Ms.Lottie and she feels so overwhelmed because she felt like they where going to destroy her flowers. while the kids where laughing Lizabeth felt bad and felt ashamed.

later that day Lizabeth went back home and overheard her parents talking about the struggles with money and how her dad cant get a job. Lizabeth felt so sad and felt like she needed to do something
climax
Lizabeth decides to go to Ms.Lotties backyard and destroy her flowers for revenge because of everything that is going on her life.
Ms. Lottie comes out and is silent and does not show any emotions cause she is very sad that the only thing good in her life was destroyed. At that moment Lizabeth realized something.
falling action
Lizabeth realized something big after this event. she lost all of her innocence and realized she needed to grow up and leave her childness behind. Later on in the future she knew all of the mistakes she made with Ms.Lottie. she felt really horrible so she then later decided to grow some marigolds herself.
