- One cause of the Sp.Am. War has the explosion of the U.S.S. Maine in Havana Harbor. The US believed that Spain had blown it up.
- Yellow Journalism was another big part of the Sp.Am. War.
- THE EXPLOSION OF THE U.S.S. MAINE!!!$5000 dollar reward for whoever discovers what filthy scum would choose to BLOW UP our beloved ship! By: William Randolph Hearst.

- Also Spain had colonized Cuba and was mistreating the Cubans.

- Even Mckinley, a man against war, was starting to get angry.
- It's like Spain wants to go to war! We must fight for what is right! America deserves to have Cuba and the Philippines! They also can't blow up our ships!
- These are all reasons America went to war with Spain. But, if I was America, I don't think I would've gone to war with Spain. It actually turns out that they didn't blow up the U.S.S. Maine! It was just something that spilled that caused it to implode.
