An organization called the Fenian Brotherhood secretly decides that they want to "Kidnap Canada" in exchange for independence of their home country of Ireland. They wanted to be free from Great Britain, similar to the USA in 1776.

Rumors of invasions lead by the Fenian Brotherhood spread throughout Toronto. Canada gets ready to stop this attack which they believe will come on Saint Patrick's Day.

Soldiers stay on guard for three weeks until no one shows up. They eventually retreat, thinking that it wasn't even going to happen.

In April of 1866, American Officials found a shipload of weapons going to Fenian troops up in Maine for their planned attack on New Brunswick. The US government didn't allow them to invade because of the Neutrality Act.
On June 1st, 1866, around 1,000 Fenians crossed the Niagara River and began their invasion of Canada. They took over Fort Erie.
The Fenians slowly realized that they didn't have enough men or weapons to take Canada West, so they released the Canadian Prisoners and went back to Buffalo on June 3rd.
