Pineda 1519
first European to map/observe the Texas coast, but his men got arrested.
Cabeza de Vaca 1528-1536
Cabeza de Vaca ship wreaked on Galveston island and made friends with the local Karankawa tribe. Many of his men died due to harsh conditions .Cabeza de Vaca traveled from tribe to tribe and used the skills of healing to stay friendly with the tribes. When he went back to Spain in 1536 he fabled of the seven cities of gold. This caused Spain to get very interested with Texas.
Coronado 1540
Coronado and 1000 men search for gold. They never end up finding the gold. They were the first to the Paloduro, and Grand canyon. Spain lost interest when there was no gold.
La Salle 1685
French explorer was sent to establish a colony on the Mississippi river,but land on the Matagorada Bay,Texas.He failed and was killed by the remaining men.Spain became interested in reclaiming Texas again.
Me 1688
I was sent from Spain to explore Texas to find the city of gold. Me and my compadres failed to find the gold. When we were to set off I didn't leave with them instead I stayed with one of the friendly tribes that we had meet on our journey.
