  • Many people at the time were debating if the U.S was simply being benevolent or only being selfish and self-interested. Peruvian Leader Raul Haya de la Torre stated "The U.S was 'The good neighbor of tyrants'"

  • The Good Neighbor Policy was very effective because it managed to lower tariff walls between the U.S. and Latin America. For example, 90% of Brazilian exports became duty free and the U.S. became largest trading partner of all L.A. countries excluding Argentina.

  • Yeah, The Good Neighbor Policy had very important effects on the U.S because in 1934, the policy let to the ratification of the U.S Treaty of Relations with Cuba and it eventually brought all of Latin America over to the side of the Allies during the World War II.
