Hello Students I am a soldier from Bengal,1943 and i will tell you about the Great Bengal Famine.
The reasons that led to subsistence crisis are (i) The population of France rose from about 23 million in 1715 to 28 million in 1789 which led to a rapid increase in the demand for food grains. (ii) Production of grains could not keep pace with the increasing demand.
We investigated the factors behind the causes of these death droughts or policy failures.The Bengal famine of 1943 was completely because of policy failure.
A subsistence crisis is a crisis caused by economic factors (generally high food prices), which in turn may be caused by either natural or man-made factors which threatens the food supplies and the survival prospects of large numbers of people (it is considered famine if it is extremely severe and large numbers of lives are lost). A subsistence crisis can be considered genuine if it is visible in demographic data.
The Bengal famine of 1943 was a famine in the Bengal province of British India (present-day Bangladesh, West Bengal and eastern India) during World War II. An estimated 2.1 to 3.8 million Bengalis perished.
