One Major theme of the Monsters are Due on Maple street is Mankind is its own worst enemy. I can prove this by showing evidence I have found in the text to support my answer. Evidence that supports my claim is when Les Good mans car starts up and people start to ask questions and start to think he is some kind of villain or Monster. I found this on page 75-77 and contributes to my claim because it shows them blaming someone they knew for five years over a car. Another example is when Charlie shoots Pete Van horn because he thought he was a monster. This supports my theme because after he had shot Pete he started to blame Tommy who is a kid about how he knew this would happen I found this on page 82-83. The last piece of evidence is when everyone starts to panic and chaos erupts. This shows that all of the neighbors started to fight over the lights turning on and off then they started to turn on each other contributing to the theme Mankind is its own worst enemy. In conclusion, this is why I think Mankind is its own worst enemy is the theme.
