  • In world war 2 over 1M Canadians served around Canada and in other countries.Canada ended up enduring about 100k casualties.
  • Canada was mainly tasked to defend the North American coasts from possible enemy invasions. German u-boats on the eastern side and Japanese u-boats on the western side were things Canada was worried about during a lot of the war. Thousands of Canadians also served in the British air force and thousands more served front lines in Europe at some point during the war.

  • Canada contributed considerably during world war 2 in all areas including naval, air, and land. Canada had about 400 active naval vessels on the seas, built over 16k military operational planes that were deployed around the world, and also had about 750k military ground personnel sent into Germany and the Netherlands and more areas to help conquer and defend.
  • Who was the greatest Canadian in ww2?That would have to be Leo Major. Leo Major was the only Canadian to have received the distinguished conduct medal in 2 separate wars. At some point, he and his regiment arrived at Zwolle, a German city, and he volunteered to go for a recon mission into the city with a corporal friend who was killed by the Germans later on. Enraged Major launched his own SOLO attack armed with an SMG and some grenades and the attack was so powerful that the Germans thought they were getting attacked by the Canadian army and they ended up fleeing. Zwolle was then liberated.
  • Thousands of Canadians suffered in ww2, but not as much as the family and friends did at home after finding out their loved ones wouldn't return. millions lost family, thousands died on the lines. The outcome of ww2 was as terrible for Canada as it was for most other countries during this time period.
  • The impact of the war on Canada...
  • The war ended on May 8th, 1945 for Canada. And Canada celebrated the allied victory in Toronto during this time. After the war, later on, Canada went on to perform an economic boom, which is where a country or nation just focuses insanely on economy and almost nothing else. The military was not a priority for Canada at all pretty much. The Canadian military size has decreased from over 1M in ww2 to the 45k current personnel and almost half of those are not even actively undergoing military training.
