Here, Odysseus is being told by the suitors their point of view of what is happening when Odysseus is attacking them. The suitors are mad because Odysseus has not given their bodies a proper burial and has shown disrespect to them and not let them rest as they should. By doing this, Odysseus is being shown how he treated others and is feeling a little bad for how he handled the situation.
"So we did, Agamemnon, our bodies lie untended even now, strewn in Odysseus' palace. They know nothing yet, the kin in our houses who might wash our wounds of clotted gore and lay us out and mourn us, These are the solemn honors owned the Dead"(24. 204-210)
In this scene, Odysseus has told his father that he has come home and wants to celebrate with him with food and a little party. This scene is important because it shows that Odysseus' journey is complete and everyone who loves him now knows that he is home and can celebrate his return.
"Father... surely one of the everlasting gods has made you taller, stronger, shining in my eyes!"(24.413-415)
This scene is important because is telling us that Odysseus is being told by the gods that he should not fight these men and should try to make peace with them instead of death. This also shows that Odysseus always does the will of the gods and wants to follow their every command the give to him.
"Royal son of Laertes, Odysseus, master of exploits, hold back now! Call a halt to the great leveler, War-don't court the rage of Zeus who rules the world" (24.595-597)
