  • Freud believed in the Id, Superego, and Ego. The Id strives to satisfy human needs to obtain instant gratification. The Superego represents ideals and responsibilities. The Ego is the final executive decision. Deciding on whether to listen to the Id or the Superego more determines what decisions the Ego will make.

  • Let's go hang out away from all of these people, it'll be more fun!
  • Alder believed in the birth order theory, the theory that the order a child was born in determines their personality traits. Only children have the traits of being responsible, self-critical, and very independent.
  • How Costa Sees Me
  • I wonder why this kid is crying. I hope I can help him feel better!
  • Rogers believed in the Person-Centered Perspective of personal growth. Opposed to self-actualization, the person centered perspective focuses on interactions with other people, specifically with dropping facades and developing an attitude of total acceptance towards other people.

  • Everyone must be staring at my new haircut!
  • Eysenck believed that everyone's personality could be graphed on a scale of extraversion vs introversion and emotional stability vs instability. Each of these traits are genetically influenced by their parents.
  • Costa believes in the more advanced personality test that involves openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism. Each of these is measured at a different level.
  • Bandura believes in the spotlight effect being a contributing factor of our personalities in public. This effect highlights the idea that we overestimate how closely we are being watched while in public and are more anxious because of it.
